Tyra Banks
Tyra Lynne Banks born December 4 , 1973 is an American supermodel, author, actor, and talk show host. Banks is widely-recognized as one of the most famous models in the world and she is part of a small group of supermodels of known African descent. Banks is currently ranked as the fourth highest earning supermodel.
In 1991 , Banks was about to begin her freshman year at Loyola Marymount University when Elite gave the 17-year-old her first modeling job. Prior to this entry into the fashion world, Banks had been rejected several times for modeling assignments. In fact, she states that she did not deem her first job to be the start of a long career in fashion: "Consequently, instead of heading to university, Banks went to Paris for fashion shows and other works produced by high-fashion designers such as Versace, Yves Saint-Laurent and Dolce & Gabbana . This is where her work became internationally renowned.
Banks' career took off when she made the move from high-fashion to a commercial market. She was the first African-American to be featured on the covers of GQ, Sports Illustrated 's swimsuit issue , but is most famous for her work as a Victoria's Secret model. In 1997 she won the prestigious Michael Award for Supermodel of the Year. Banks has done runway shows in Paris, Milan, Tokyo, London and the U.S. She has been featured in a variety of magazines, commercials, and billboards. Her modeling credits include runway and/or print work for CoverGirl, Swatch, Pepsi, Nike, XOXO, LensCrafters, Tommy Hilfiger, Victoria's Secret, Ralph Lauren, McDonald's, Dolce & Gabbana, Yves Saint-Laurent, Chanel, Escada, Anna Sui, Liz Claiborne and Richard Tyler. Banks has graced international fashion magazines, including the covers of Vogue , ELLE , Amica, ELLEgirl , L'Officiel , Harper's Bazaar , Photo , Cosmopolitan and Sports Illustrated .
In a time when waif fashion models were in prominence, Banks stood out with a more voluptuous physique at 5ft 9in tall and reported measurements of 34”-23”-35”. Banks had to work hard to persuade fashion designers that her physique was well-suited to the catwalk and ultimately walked for the best haute couture designers all over the world. Later on in her career, Banks decided that the world of high-fashion was no longer something she wished to pursue and so began seeking work in the commercial side of fashion.

Gisele Bündchen
Gisele Caroline Nonnenmacher Bündchen born July 20 , 1980. She is most noted for being one of the original Victoria's Secret Angels and one of the world's premiere high-fashion models.
An often told story of Bündchen's "discovery" is a schoolgirl incident where an agent discovered the bronze-haired beauty while eating a Big Mac at a local McDonald's In an interview, Bündchen remarked that she originally did not know what a model was, thinking it was something akin to being a hooker .
In 1993, a 13-year-old Bündchen joined the Dilson Stein's mannequin course to correct her posture, with her sisters Patrícia and Gabriela, because her mother insisted. The course was designed for teenagers aspiring to become models. In May 1994, Stein took 50 girls to São Paulo to give them an opportunity to walk in a big city and to be evaluated by Brazilian Elite agents. On August 20, 1993, while Bündchen was playing volleyball for Sogipa, in Porto Alegre, Elite "kidnapped" her and took her to a contest. She came in second in the national Elite Look of the Year contest. As a teen, Bündchen moved to New York City to begin her runway debut at Fashion Week. After her debut in NYC, she was immediately embraced by the fashion world.
Bündchen has since done ads and runway shows for many of the most prestigious fashion houses including Valentino, Zara, Bulgari, Chloé, Celine, Versace, Christian Dior, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, Victoria's Secret, Dolce & Gabbana, and Louis Vuitton. She endorses several Brazilian brands, notably Vivo, a cellular service company, and the Brazilian subsidiary of C&A and she also has her own line of shoes called Ipanema Gisele Bündchen. She has appeared on the covers of many high-profile magazines including Allure, Marie Claire, Vogue, ELLE, Harper's Bazaar, Arena, Time, i-D, The Face, Forbes, Newsweek and Rolling Stone. Her curvaceous figure prompted Vogue to refer to her body of work as the "return of the sexy model," since she seems to have marked the end of a trend of "waif" models such as Kate Moss. Bündchen has multi-million contracts with Victoria's Secret, Ebel, and St. John . In 2006 alone she had 20 contracts and earned $30 million. She is rumored to be the face of an advertising campaign for Apple Computer, however, this has yet to be confirmed.
